Why 5 specific ZiwiPeak canned wet food flavours have disappeared in 2022

The food brands shown on our website are strictly limited to those that meet AAFCO standards and are approved by the Australian Raw Fed Cats community. All products are thoroughly vetted for their ingredients and nutrient proportions. You won’t find any products in our search tool containing species-inappropriate ingredients, grains, or fillers.

The only dry food products shown are those that are freeze or air dried raw, and are intended to be rehydrated or given as a supplement (such as being used as a topper or treat) with wet foods.

We take extra special care to ensure the accuracy of all products shown. All products are added to our search tool manually by a human, and triple checked for accuracy.

If a brand is not shown in our search tool, it is very likely that it doesn’t meet the standards of an appropriate diet for cats. It could also be that the brand is new and has not yet come to our attention, in which case we’d love to hear about it!

Our search tool makes it easy for cat parents to filter out food options that aren’t as healthy as others, or those that could cause significant harm to cats with certain health concerns.

For example, many people avoid products containing fish, as it is a problematic ingredient for several reasons. If you’d like to learn more about this, check out our FAQ.

Likewise, some brands contain higher levels of certain ingredients than others, which can lead to side effects for some cats, such as a higher concentration of bone leading to constipation.

We regularly review new stores to see whether they’d make a good addition to our search tool. A few of the things we consider are:

• Are they competitive? If the store’s pricing is consistently much higher than our current stores, we don’t feel there is much benefit in adding them.
• Do they offer flat rate, or reasonable variable shipping rates? If a store has a complicated or high price point in terms of their shipping costs, they aren’t likely to be competitive overall with our current stores.
• Do they ship state-wide, nationally or are they at least available to a wide range of people? We won’t be adding every single local pet store out there, even if they are cheaper in the end. Our tool is designed to serve as many people as possible, so we try to stick to stores that are available to a large number of people, or who exclusively sell a great brand.

Our search tool offers foods that fall into 3 diet categories:

• Complete: These foods are suitable for everyday feeding as they are nutritionally complete and balanced. See our note below about comparing the pricing of complete food types.
• Incomplete: These foods are intended to supplement your cat’s usual food, such as treats, topper, or bone broth.
• Meal Completer: Meal completer is mixed with water to create a nutrient-dense gravy which can then be added to your choice of fresh, raw muscle meat. The meal completer provides a perfectly balanced mix of the nutrients your cat requires alongside those that are found in raw muscle meat. This is a quick and simple way to make your own fresh, raw and balanced meals for your cat.

Note: Freeze or air dried food is dehydrated, and it is generally intended that you will either add your own water to it at home, or feed a much smaller amount of it compared to food that is sold containing water already (wet foods). Our search tool factors this in for you by listing an actual weight (the real weight of the bag) and an equivalent weight (the weight of the food you could make from that bag after you add water, or factor in the reduced portion sizes). Our tool will use the equivalent weight to compare dehydrated foods against wet foods, to ensure it’s fair. You can therefore compare all complete food types against each other and get an accurate result.
